SFO - Temporary Airport Identification Plates

In order to obtain the required temporary identification plate for your firm's vehicles, please contact our Ground Transportation Permit Processing Unit. The temporary identification will cost $45 and be val id for up to 90 days from the date of issuance. Note that if the vehicle was purchased new from a licensed California automobile dealer, the fee will be waived for the first identification plate.

If any ground transportation vehicles are found operating at the Airport without either the requ ired Airport-issued temporary identification plate or DMV-issued California license plate, your firm's driver will be cited by the San Francisco Police Department's Airport Bureau.
