San Jose International Airport - Limousine Curbside Pickup Pilot Program

Print

In order to serve our customers, Mineta Int'l. Airport is implementing a Limousine Curb-side Pickup pilot program. In addition to our current program, beginning Wednesday March 30, 2011, and for a trial period of three months, limousine drivers may pick up passengers at terminal curb-sides. This is intended for customers that do not need special assistance and are ready for immediate loading into the limousine with no waiting.

The following restrictions apply and will be vigorously enforced.

  • No waiting. Curbside pickup requires immediate loading of passengers. Remain clear of the curbside loading areas until your passengers have contacted the driver and advised that they are ready for loading. Drivers may use the cell phone waiting area for this purpose. The cellphone waiting area is located near the airport entrance on Airport Parkway, just east of Highway 87.
  • Do not leave vehicles. Limousine drivers may not leave vehicles unattended while at curbside for any reason. If drivers must leave their vehicles, the vehicle must be parked in the designated areas inside the garages, and a valid waybill must be visible on the dashboard of the vehicle.

Violations of the above restrictions may result in citations being issued ($75.00 per occurrence).

Limousines will continue to have access to existing spaces in the Terminal A and Terminal B garages.

Please note that circling for any reason will generate additional trip fees. This includes incidences in which Parking & Traffic Control Officers instruct drivers to move away from the curb. These fees will not be refunded or credited.

Your cooperation with this new program is appreciated. We hope the ability to pick up curbside is useful to you and your customers.

Should you have any questions, please contact Airport Operations at airportgt@sjc.org.

Print

Chris Quinn, First Vice President of the Greater California Livery Association (GCLA), recently met with the Sacramento County Airport System's Ground Transportation Unit and obtained a commitment from them to  to work with the GCLA on behalf of lawful operators and to increase enforcement on those that are unlawful. They will also be reaching out to the TSA, Local Law Enforcement, the PUC, and State Agencies to assist with increased enforcement. Included below is an article from the Sacramento Business Journal describing the Sacramento County Airport system and its economic impact on the area. The GCLA is committed to working with the Airport officials in making this system a vast and friendly source of opportunity and revenue for our members.

Airport system creates 11,000 jobs, study says

The Sacramento County Airport System creates 11,000 jobs with a payroll of $442.5 million and contributes $4 billion to the local economy, according to the system's most recent economic impact study.

Results of the study were presented to the county Board of Supervisors Tuesday.

Supervisor Roberta MacGlashan called the airport system, which includes Sacramento International Airport, Mather Airport, Executive Airport and Franklin Field, an "extremely valuable economic asset."

Highlights of the study, which was based on 2008 data, include:

  • Sacramento International, Mather and Executive airports collectively employ 4,170 people and support 6,830 off-airport jobs by doing business with food wholesalers and other suppliers, for example
  • The payroll for on-airport jobs is $208 million, while the payroll for off-airport jobs is $234.4 million.
  • The economic impact of the three airports in the study was $4.05 billion for Sacramento International, $151.3 million for Mather Airport and $20.7 million for Executive Airport.
  • The study projected the system's annual economic impact for 2011 to be $4.1 billion and rise to $4.6 billion in 2013.

"We are proud to be a major driver of the economy in Sacramento," airport system director G. Hardy Acree said in a news release.

The Big Build, Sacramento County's largest-ever capital improvement project, broke ground at Sacramento International Airport June 19, 2008, and is set for completion in the fourth quarter.

The $1.1 billion project is designed to meet future travel demands by replacing an outdated 216,000-square-foot, 13-gate terminal with a 19-gate terminal and airside concourse that together total about 670,000 square feet.

San Francisco Airport - Ground Transponder Update

Print

January 3t 2011

Dear Ground Transportation Tenants:

As of March 1, 2011, the Ground Transportation Unit will no longer be installing windshield transponders onto your vehicles. Roof mounted transponders will be the only option available to you in either black or white to closely resemble your vehicle's exterior paint.

We are currently in the beginning stages of implementing the new Ground Transportation Management System which will include many benefits for you and the Airport. One of the upgrades will include a new variety of transponders. Information on these transponders will be provided in future communication broadcasts.

We look forward to this exciting transition and appreciate your patience while we move forward into the next generation of ground transportation technology.

If you have any question, please feel free to email us at GTU@fiysfo.com or contact us at 650-821-3600.

Sincerely,

Jeff Littlefield
