TO: All Airport Ground Transportation Operators
FROM: Kathy Hausler, Airport Operations
DATE: September 5,2007
SUBJECT: Airport Updates
The purpose of this memo is to provide you with updates regarding permit information and construction activities at the Airport.
AIRPORT GROUND TRANSPORTATION OFFICES
Due to the Terminal C security checkpoint reconfiguration, effective September 17, 2007, the Airport Ground Transportation Offices will relocate to 1311 Airport Blvd. The new office is located on Airport Blvd, south of the Terminals. (The office is in the same location as the office used for permit renewals in 2006.) Office hours will be from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. After hours appointments may be scheduled as needed. Please continue to use the existing phone and fax numbers until further notice.
To facilitate the move, the Ground Transportation Offices will be closed Friday, September 14 at noon. Offices will re-open on Monday, September 17 at noon. Please schedule appointments with staff accordingly.
PERMIT RENEWALS
All Ground Transportation permits are valid through June 2009. Although the validation stickers issued to vehicles show an expiration date of June 2007, those stickers are valid through June 2009.
Please note that operators are still required to submit updated documents to the Airport upon expiration, such as insurance, licenses, etc. The Airport will no longer send out reminders of insurance and other document's expiration dates. (This does not impact the On Dispatch operators.)
AIRPORT CONSTRUCTION UPDATES
Construction has begun on the Terminal Area Improvement Plan. Many roadway and parking changes will be implemented in the coming weeks. Here are a few of the upcoming changes that will impact Ground Transportation Areas:
- September 16, 2007 - The Skyport exit from the Airport will be closed in paration for the Skyport connector installation. Use Airport Parkway to Technology as the detour to access Highway 87 from the Airport. The Skyport entrance to the Airport will remain open at this time.
- October 5, 2007 - The Skyport Connector will be open to exiting traffic from the Airport.using the roadway loop. However, vehicles exiting the Terminal C Courtesy GT pick-up area will not be able to access Airport Blvd., southbound or Skyport. Courtesy vehicles must use Airport Parkway to exit the Airport and Technology Blvd. to access Highway 87.
- Charter Buses have been relocated at Terminal C. Effective immediately, all Charter Buses must stage south of Terminal C, along Terminal Drive. Buses must use the Courtesy GT pick-up area when all passengers are ready for pick-up.
Since construction activities are constantly changing, we recommend logging on to the Airport website weekly at www.sjc.org. There, you will find construction updates, on a weekly basis in "The New Airport" section.
Thank you for your patience with all of the Airport changes. If you have any questions or need further information, please contact Airport Operations at 408-277-4705.
